Policy work falls under our pillar Partnership Advancement
How do we separate politics from policy?
At Achieve Brown County, we believe in the power of people coming together—individuals and organizations, those with lived experience and those with learned expertise. Our role in policy work is grounded in that belief: that positive change happens when we gather around the same table, listen deeply, and work collaboratively.

Too often, when the word policy comes up, it’s quickly followed by politics.
But at Achieve Brown County, we approach policy from a different angle—through connection rather than division. Our work is about building common ground. It’s about focusing on what unites us rather than what separates us.

Learn More About the Six Conditions of Systems Change Here
We’re not here to push a political agenda—we’re here to support policies and resource flows that help kids and families thrive, build a strong and inclusive workforce, and ensure economic mobility for future generations.
So, what does our policy work actually look like?
- Amplifying community voice
- We support individuals and organizations in sharing their stories and expertise. Whether it’s about a policy, a process, or a resource flow—they help us understand what’s working, and what’s not. These voices are powerful tools for change.
- Facilitating cross-sector roundtables
- We create space for community members, parents, educators, business leaders, workforce experts, philanthropists, and government officials to come together. The goal? To reimagine policies and systems that better serve our community.
- Building trust, relationships and connections
- Real change requires real conversations. We invest in the long game—relationships and connections built on trust that allow tough conversations to happen in a space that’s safe, inclusive, and productive.
- Contributing to networked change
- We build and strengthen networks that make it possible to convene diverse voices, collect meaningful feedback in real time, and ensure that community-driven perspectives shape the path forward.
Why does this matter?
Because when we all come together—across sectors, backgrounds, and beliefs—we can do big things. We can shift systems. We can reimagine what’s possible for our kids, our families, and our future.
We can use data and rally community to co-create equitable conditions so every young person can thrive.
And that’s our mission.
