At Achieve Brown County, we believe every young person in our community can thrive. But making that happen requires more than good intentions. It takes data. It takes alignment. It takes systems change.
And, most importantly, it takes partners who believe in the long game.
That’s why we’re proud to have Basic Needs Giving Partnership as an investor. They understand that real change begins beneath the surface. And they commit to that lasting change by partnering with and funding collaboratives like Achieve Brown County.

Formed in 2007 through a visionary collaboration between the families of U.S. Venture and J. J. Keller Foundation, Inc., the Basic Needs Giving Partnership has always prioritized big-picture thinking. Their goal: invest in organizations working across sectors to tackle the root causes of poverty and create sustainable community-wide solutions.
“We invest in root cause and system change efforts because they aim to address the underlying structures and dynamics that perpetuate poverty,” says Lynn Coriano, Executive Director. “We believe that addressing the root cause of issues allows for more sustainable and equitable solutions.”
The Basic Needs Giving Partnership has been an investor of Achieve Brown County since our founding. They saw how we could bring together parents, schools, healthcare systems, nonprofits, businesses, and government to focus on data and a shared vision for community change.
Achieve Brown County doesn’t provide direct services. Instead, our Partners build the conditions that get people, services, and policies to work better together. We align efforts, rally community, and use data to show our community how to support every young person on their road to success.

One example of this is our Reading for the Future Initiative , a community-wide effort to ensure all children are reading at grade level by the end of third grade. It’s a critical milestone as young people who aren’t reading proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to leave high school without a diploma. With support from Basic Needs Giving Partnership, we’re creating a framework that centers families, elevates community voice, and strengthens systems in early childhood.
“With a focus on relationships–across sectors, among families, within neighborhoods–Achieve Brown County is deepening collaboration to mobilize community support for the critical years of a child’s early development. Building trust and co-creating solutions with the community takes time and it also ensures a more equitable pathway to proficiency in reading for all children, which is critical to a thriving community,” says Stephanie Gyldenvand, Director of Grantmaking.
Basic Needs Giving Partnership chooses to invest in the infrastructure that makes collective action possible. They show that systems change is worth it. That aligning people, data, and strategy isn’t just a nice idea, but an essential part of truly solving community issues.
That kind of commitment takes patience. It takes trust. And it takes partners who see beyond short-term outcomes to the lasting, generational impact of coordinated, community-wide action.
This kind of work doesn’t happen without partnership.
And it doesn’t happen without continued investment.
“Lasting community change doesn’t happen overnight—and it doesn’t happen alone. The Basic Needs Giving Partnership understands that,” says Sarah Beckman, Executive Director, Achieve Brown County. “Their investment helps us bring together voices from every corner of our community to create solutions that are equitable, data-driven, and built to last.”
