An introduction to the data.

Measuring what matters.

Data is at the core of our work to get better, more equitable outcomes for young people. We analyze and visualize data and make it available to our community for decision making through the maintenance of our Cradle-to-Career Youth Outcome Dashboard. Their are seven population level outcomes on this dashboard.

We also use data to drive the Collaborative Action work we facilitate. Currently, our Collaborative Action Work is focused on improving our Early Grade Reading outcome through the Reading for the Future Initiative.

About

Data Requests

Please note that we launched a new website in September 2024 and simultaneously are working to transition from using Tableau Server to Power BI to create our interactive dashboards for the data that is displayed on our website.

During this transition, all dashboards are unavailable. Instead, each outcome will have downloadable PDF reports which show some of our previously available data in a static format.

If you are looking for particular data, please submit a data request to our data team using the form below and we will work with you on a plan to support your needs.

Kindergarten Readiness

Why it matters?

Kindergarten Readiness is closely linked to future academic achievement and life success. During these critical formative years, children learn
language, understand that letters form words, and relate words to the things they see. Children develop fundamental skills and responses in
early childhood that build strong foundations for reading, counting, and social interactions.

Early Grade Reading

Why it matters?

Reading at grade level is one of the strongest predictors of later success, including higher rates of graduating high school and attending college. Studies have found that students who do not read at grade level by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school than their proficient peers.

Middle Grade Math

Why it matters?

Students completing algebra in eighth grade attend college at higher rates than students who do not; demonstrating math proficiency at this point opens the door to completing advanced mathematics courses in high school, which is highly valued for admission to colleges and universities. Eighth grade math correlates to high school persistence, academic achievement, college attainment, and general preparedness for the workforce.

High School Graduation

Why it matters?

High school graduation is not only a precursor to postsecondary success, it is a significant determinant of earnings throughout adulthood. Further, increasing the educational attainment of one generation improves the next generation’s academic and social outcomes.

Post Secondary Enrollment

Why it matters?

Two-thirds of jobs require a degree or credential beyond high school. Enrollment within two years is critical, as students who delay enrollment are 64% less likely than their “on-time” peers to complete a bachelor’s degree and 18% less likely to complete any college credential.

Post Secondary Completion

Why it matters?

The Federal Reserve reports “college graduates received weekly wages that were 80% higher than those of high school graduates.” While there has been much discussion about the cost of college, 82% of those with bachelor’s degrees believe it has been a good investment.

Employment

Why it matters?

The result of Workshopping was seven actionable, surface level strategies–called Low Fidelity Strategies–to improve 3rd grade reading proficiency.

C2C Outcomes: Impact on Economic Mobility

Economic mobility is StriveTogether’s north star. It includes economic success, power, autonomy and feeling valued in one’s community. Read more about each Cradle-to-career outcome and it’s impact on upward economic mobility here.

Systems Indicator Data

Systems indicators are qualitative and quantitative measurements that reveal inequities in how resources, decision-making power and opportunities are distributed. We measure systems indicators to hold systems accountable — and we do that by shifting policies and practices at institutions and organizations.

How to Measure Systems to Hold Them Accountable

This StriveTogether Medium article — a seven-minute read or listen — shares how and why communities across the Network are measuring systems indicators.
