Twice a month, the Achieve Brown County Backbone Staff opens its virtual doors to give you a behind the scene tour of what collective impact is all about. Whether you’re curious about how we help young people thrive, looking for a meaningful way to get involved, or already a partner wanting to explore new ways to make an impact, our Intro to ABC event is for you.
So, what is it?
This recurring orientation is part conversation, part crash course in systems change. Over the course of an hour, you’ll learn:
- Who we are as a Collective Impact Partnership and the roles backbone staff, partners, and volunteer partners play in the work
- What systems change looks like in practice
- How our three core work areas—Partnership Advancement, Data Work, and Collaborative Action—drive real outcomes
- The many ways to plug in, from joining action teams to serving on the board
“I came in knowing nothing about Achieve Brown County. Now I feel like I have a better understanding of how community change actually happens and I know exactly how I can be part of it.”
You’ll also meet other curious community members and hear about pathways that align with your time, talents, and interests.
Why we host this event (even if you don’t plan to volunteer yet)
“Even though I’m already involved as a partner, I learned so much more about areas of work I hadn’t engaged with before. It helped me see where else I could contribute.”
Let’s be honest: our work can be hard to summarize in one sentence. We don’t run programs. We don’t provide direct services. Instead, we help challenge and change complex systems that shape young people’s lives from birth through adulthood. That’s challenging work and it requires a collective approach.
These sessions are a great way to see the big picture. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how organizations across Brown County are aligning their efforts to achieve better outcomes for every young person, regardless of race, income, zip code, or circumstance.
